Jane Hobson

Jane Hobson is a Senior Social Development Adviser in the Global Health Directorate at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

She works on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and is particularly concerned with human rights and neglected and stigmatised issues within SRHR. Previously, she has led the UK government’s international engagement on voluntary family planning and on supporting Africa-led efforts to end female genital mutilation. Earlier in her career she worked as a social development and health adviser in Sierra Leone, and in a range of policy roles on social exclusion, governance and conflict, and urbanisation.

Prior to joining the former Department for International Development (DFID) 20 years ago, she worked in India for a small grassroots NGO working with marginalised urban communities.
